To end up tall, heavy tubular steel sections like used when building monopile foundations or tower sections for offshore wind turbines with a weight higher than the workshops gantry crane hook load capacity, we developed a concept for a special up ending tool. Equipped with a hydraulic device the tool is able to relief the workshop gantry crane by taking over amount of the complete load while the tubular steel will be up ended in a controlled and safe way. With an integrated transport frame the up ended tubular steel section can easily be picked up by a SPMT and carried upright forward to be processed.
